Vriksha Vihari
Description
Vriksha Vihari meaning it evokes the tree of life (vriksha in Sanskrit heritage weaves) branches with floral and avian motifs blooming across the teal tussar silk, symbolizing growth, nature's bounty, and eternal harmony in ancient South Indian Kalamkari traditions.
This handloom Tussar pen kalamkari saree, hand-painted using kalam (pen) techniques by Srikalahasti artisans, showcases a deep teal blue body with scattered peacock, bird, and floral vine motifs symbolizing grace, prosperity, and floral vitality in Andhra Pradesh heritage. The peach gold-toned edging frames the twisting branch-and-bloom pattern subtly textured throughout, while the body features cascading floral and peacock drops for ethereal, garden-inspired opulence.
Traditional Craftsmanship
Tussar Body: Textured wild silk with pen kalamkari floral and peacock butti for subtle festive charm and daily wear.
Zari Edging: Delicate peach-gold borders highlighting organic harmony and timeless simplicity.
Pen Kalamkari Note: Pen Kalamkari from Srikalahasti involves freehand painting with a bamboo kalam (pen) and natural dyes in 23 tedious steps of resist-dyeing, outlining, and multiple washes—creating intricate, one-of-a-kind narratives from mythology and nature, unlike block-printed styles.
Note on Handmade Beauty:
Each piece is hand painted and dyed using natural colors over a slow process of 15–20 days. As a result, you may notice slight variations in color, mild pigment smudges, or irregular dye patterns, these are not defects. They’re gentle marks of authenticity, proudly bearing the touch of human hands, heritage, and nature’s own palette. Wear them like a signature, because no two pieces are ever alike.
