Description

Ramayana Grantha meaning it evokes the sacred epic text (granthi in Sanskrit heritage weaves) of Ramayana verses hand-written and hand-painted amid divine motifs across the off-white silk, symbolizing dharma, devotion, victory of good over evil, and cultural wisdom in ancient South Indian temple art and Kalamkari traditions.

This handloom Mangalagiri pen kalamkari silk saree, meticulously hand-painted and hand-written using kalam techniques by artisans, showcases an off-white body with fine Telugu script verses from Ramayana integrated with mythological figures like Krishna, Hanuman, and celestial beings, symbolizing epic righteousness in Andhra Pradesh heritage. The red floral borders frame the narrative pattern throughout, while the pallu features clustered scenes with lotuses and characters for ethereal, scriptural opulence—all achieved through freehand pen work with natural dyes.

Traditional Craftsmanship
Mangalagiri Silk Body: Lustrous silk with hand-painted/written pen kalamkari script and epic butti for subtle festive charm and daily wear.

Zari Edging: Delicate contrasting borders highlighting narrative harmony and timeless simplicity.

Pen Kalamkari Note: Pen Kalamkari from Mangalagiri/Srikalahasti style uses a bamboo kalam (pen) for freehand hand-painting and hand-writing with natural dyes in 23 steps of mordant-resist dyeing, outlining, filling, and washes—crafting unique epic texts like Ramayana verses on silk, entirely hand-drawn without blocks.

Note on Handmade Beauty:
Each piece is hand painted and dyed using natural colors over a slow process of 15–20 days. As a result, you may notice slight variations in color, mild pigment smudges, or irregular dye patterns, these are not defects. They’re gentle marks of authenticity, proudly bearing the touch of human hands, heritage, and nature’s own palette. Wear them like a signature, because no two pieces are ever alike.
